I stumbled upon your blog whilst doing research on WWOOFing in France! I have now contacted Bernard and Blance to see if I can join them but unfortunately they have limited Internet access and my French is terrible 😦
I wonder if I could ask you some questions??
What was the accommodation like and what sort of work was expected/how many hours/days? what are the surroundings like? Other activities?

Hi Y,
WWOOFing is all about taking risks and jumping into something unexpected, which is why I won’t tell you about the surroundings or about Bernard or Beatrice. Only that I learned a lot, met some very interesting people and had a memorable experience. Go contact them, go out there and see for yourself what it’s like.
When you’ve written to a farm and agreed to come over, it will always be so far from what you expected, good or bad. And that’s half the fun!
So get out there!

Hi Julie,
I have enjoyed reading over your experiences of wwoofing, I have been wanting to do it for a while now and you have inspired me to just do it, and not be nervous 🙂 I have questions which I was hoping you could answer for me, should I plan dates and pre book places with hosts in advance? Or could I organise my first stay with someone and just organise other stays whilst I travel or need required? Did you plan all of your stays with hosts in advance ?

Hi Martina,
I would advise having your dates set at least one to two weeks in advance, depending on where you’re going. With Tuscany, many of the places I wanted to go were booked or had dates that didn’t work for me. While you’re on one farm, start planning your next visit, and so on. You want to also be flexible in case something else comes along that catches your interest.

I originally posted a lot of information about this farm (including the name, where in Tuscany it is locally, who owns it, etc.), but was promptly asked to remove it. At first, I didn’t see the harm in posting that information, but then I remembered why it was so special to me: it stumbled upon it by accident, like so many others.
While my information was online, before I removed it, the farm got way too many requests to handle.
But the primary I do not give out the name of the farm to anyone is because I must respect the privacy of the owner and those who live and work there, who have asked me not give out any information.
I’m sorry I can’t be of any more help. But keep hunting! You might just find a place just as incredible as WWOOF #5. I worked in many incredible places that didn’t have pools or a professional kitchen, and those memories are just as lovely.
